Books:

Webpage:

Author, A. A. & Author, B. B. (date of publication). Title of work. Site Name. Retrieved from http://webaddress.

Include an in-text citation at any point in your writing when you use someone else's ideas.

EXAMPLES:  Choose based on how author and/or date is used in your answer.

Quotation

  • “High blood pressure and diabetes increase the risk of developing kidney disease” (Curhan, 2014, p. 3).
  • Curhan (2014) found that “high blood pressure and diabetes increase the risk of developing kidney disease” (p. 3).
  • In 2014, Curhan found that “high blood pressure and diabetes increase the risk of developing kidney disease” (p. 3).

Paraphrase

  • Diabetics are at risk of kidney disease (Curhan, 2014, p.3).
  • Curhan (2014) found that diabetics are at risk of kidney disease (p. 3).
  • In 2014, Curhan found that diabetics are at risk of kidney disease (p.3).

 

Note:  When citing a webpage, include a paragraph number, instead of a page number.

“Chronic kidney disease can lead to end-stage kidney disease” (Curhan, 2014, para. 2).
