EasyBib Benefits

EasyBib is a lot like BibMe in that both are free, easy to use, web-based citation management tools that make use of the Autocite/Auto-fill input mode which searches WorldCat and populates the necessary citation metadata for you. BibMe is great for generating a quick citation online.

EasyBib allows you to search books, websites, newspapers, journals, and databases in order to quickly generate a citation, which you can then copy and paste into a document, email to yourself, download as a Microsoft Word document, save to Google Docs, or save online for later use. EasyBib is intiutive and simple to use and since it's web-based, you don't have to worry about downloading any software to your computer. You can use EasyBib from any computer that has Internet access.

Generating citations using MLA is currently free but to create APA and Chicago/Turabian citations, you'll need to subscribe to MyBib Pro.

Using EasyBib

Getting started with EasyBib is simple. First, search for the item you'd like to cite. This could be an author, title, keyword, ISBN, etc. Once you find the desired resource, click the "Cite this" button:

Next, select the item you'd like to cite and make any necessary adjustments in order to confirm the citation information.

Click on "Create Citation" to view the formatted citation:

You can continue to collect resources and citations and save them online, copy and paste them into a document, save them to your Google Docs account, or print out a Word document.
