Academy Library: Information Literacy Statement
The purpose of the Academy Library is to support the mission of the United States Sports Academy (USSA) by ensuring that faculty members, current staff members, and registered students have access to adequate learning resources and services needed to support the Academy’s role as a sports-specific institution. The Academy Library resources include a print collection, online research databases, and an interlibrary loan program.
Information Literacy Statement
The USSA student is predominately a non-traditional, adult learner, who has taken the initiative to begin a rigorous academic venture. The Academy Library respects its diverse group of students, integrating an information literacy platform to support an information literate individual.
According to the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education outlines factors for an information literate individual.
The frameworks, listed alphabetically below, as outlined by the ACRL (2016):
The Academy Library staff provides research instruction and tools for students to develop pragmatic reviewing skills for information in any content. This framework is designed for continuous learning process as students move through research academically, and as life-long learners.
